SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's tennis team will make their final trip of the fall season to compete in the Irvine Tournament this weekend. After competing at several tournaments, Bronco head coach Ben Cabell is eager to see how his young team has progressed throughout the fall season.

"The Irvine tournament will be the last opportunity for our young players to get in a few more matches before the season starts. I'm very impressed with how quickly our young players have adapted to collegiate play and it should be a great weekend."

Two weeks ago the Broncos competed at the ITA Regionals held at Stanford University. Rookie freshman Kelly Lamble made it to the Round of 32 in the main draw, defeating opponents from Sacramento State and Washington before falling to Cal Poly's Brittany Blalock, 5-7, 6-4, 7-6(11), while fellow freshman Maggie McGeorge fell in her second round match of the main draw, but advanced to the quarterfinals of the consolations draw after defeating Portland's Megan Sporndli, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(6).

The Broncos will begin tournament play this Friday, Nov. 13, at UC Irvine. Click here for updates.
