Women's Tennis Falls to LMU Fighting for Fifth Place

MORAGA, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's tennis team finished the WCC Championships on Sunday against third seeded Loyola Marymount. In the battle for fifth place, the Broncos made a valiant effort, but were unable to pull through for a win, falling 4-0. Seniors Lindsay McBride and Myra Davoudi were to close out the season winning two of their three doubles matches in the tournament. In doubles, LMU's Paval Mesterova and Tamara Tanner duo edged out Stephanie Galainena and Ashley Pane. The match was the longest of the doubles matches, but SCU could not close the gap, falling 9-8(2). Seniors Davoudi and McBride ended their SCU doubles careers with two consecutive doubles wins, the second against LMU's Jasmin Heckel and Bliss Nixon, 8-5. The Lions' Tina Razloznik and Caroline Nothnagel defeated Carmen Pham and Courntey Hull at No. 3 doubles, 8-5, to clinch the doubles point and give LMU a 1-0 lead going into singles play. In singles, the Broncos played hard, but LMU closed the door with three wins at the 4, 5, and 6 positions. Carmen Pham fell to LMU's Heckel, 6-1, 6-1. Court five finished after Pham, where Pane could not overcome Audrey Bulkley of LMU, 6-1, 6-2. Finally, at court six, Courtney Hull fell to LMU's Nothnagel 6-2, 6-0.
