PORTLAND, Ore. - The Santa Clara University women's tennis team opened its West Coast Conference season with an 5-2 defeat of Portland Saturday afternoon in Portland. The Broncos are now 2-1 on the year, while the Pilots fall to 0-2.

The Broncos return to action next weekend with two Bay Area contests. Santa Clara will visit California on Friday, Feb. 1, for a 2 p.m. match in Berkeley. SCU will then take on Sonoma State at noon on Saturday in Sonoma.
