SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara's Katie Le will become the Santa Clara women's tennis first player in program history to compete at the prestigious National Indoor Championships in Flushing, N.Y. Le, who has tallied numerous program firsts in her Bronco career, will battle some of the top singles players in the country. Le was the 2012 West Coast Conference Player of the Year.
Le will begin play on Thurs., Nov. 8 in New York.
"We are really proud of Katie," said Santa Clara women's tennis head coach Ben Cabell. "She has earned this opportunity to play with the best players in the country and she certainly is one of the best. It's really exciting for her to be able to compete for a national championship."
Le is currently ranked No. 41 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's singles rankings. Last season she was the first player to receive an individual bid to the NCAA singles championships. During her two previous seasons Le has amassed a total of 41 wins. She was tabbed as the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year in 2010-11 and last year was First Team All-WCC.
