SCU 1 of Just 2 WCC Schools to Receive NCAA Public Recognition Award Eight Straight Years; 4 Bronco Teams Honored This Year
Santa Clara University was joined by Gonzaga University as the only two school’s from the West Coast Conference to earn Public Recognition Awards, based on their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate. The Public Recognition Award was given to 61 schools who placed at least one team on the list each of the past eight years. These awards are given each year to teams with APRs in the top 10 percent plus ties in each sport. In addition, this year four Bronco teams were honored for their APR's: women's tennis, women's outdoor track, women's rowing and women's water polo.

Le Wins School's First-Ever NCAA Singles Championship Match; Advances to Play No. 3 Seed At 6 AM Pacific Thursday
Winning the school’s first-ever individual match at the NCAA Singles Championships, Santa Clara junior and Milpitas, Calif. native No. 26 Katie Le defeated No. 30 Emina Bektas of No. 10 Michigan 7-6(3), 7-5 in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championship in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois. Le is 22-12 this season and Bektas finishes at 24-9.

Chelby Cooke Reflects On First Bronco Tennis Season
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With four seniors graduating from the team this year, the women’s tennis team is looking to younger members to fill big shoes. Freshman Chelby Cooke (CC) has played at the No. 4 singles position for the Broncos recording a 13-7 record during the 2012-13 season. For her efforts, she was named WCC Honorable Mention for her singles play. Katie Le’s Take on Tennis
Katie Le (KL), a junior from Milpitas, Calif. has had quite a successful career as a member of the women’s tennis team. Le posted a preseason record of 6-3 and just last week she Le received a bid to the 2013 NCAA Singles Championship. Four Women's Tennis Players and Head Coach Receive All-WCC Honors
With four players named All-WCC, Santa Clara University's women's tennis head coach Ben Cabell was also named the league's Co-Coach of the Year. Based on overall season performance and the results from the WCC Championships, Katie Le grabbed First-Team in Singles along with Jessica Agra for Second-Team in Doubles. Le will find out on May 1 if she has received a NCAA bid to the Tournament. Kelly Lamble and Chelby Cooke were both named All-WCC Honorable Mention in Singles.

Senior Maggie McGeorge Reflects On SCU Tennis Career
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With the West Coast Conference Championships being played this week, senior Maggie McGeorge (MM) is excited about finishing her SCU tennis career on a high note. The women’s tennis team went 11-9 overall and 7-1 in conference this year. McGeorge put up a 6-3 record overall in doubles with her partner Kelly Lamble. The two have proved to be very successful together over their four years of playing doubles together. She received back-to-back WCC honorable mentions her freshman and sophomore year for her doubles play with Lamble. SantaClaraBroncos.com had the chance to talk to McGeorge about her overall experience here at Santa Clara University, both on and off the tennis court, and how her injury midway through last season has not broken her spirit.

After Being Abroad for the Fall Quarter, Carolina O’Haren Prepares for the Tennis Season
For the fall quarter, Junior Carolina O’Haren (CO) spent the quarter studying abroad in Seville, Spain. Even though this meant missing the tennis preseason, O’Haren kept up her conditioning and stayed motivated to come back strong for the 2013 season. SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara’s women’s tennis team hosted three Bay Area schools for the Bronco Invitational over the weekend. Starting on Friday, the Broncos played both singles and doubles against San Jose State (SJSU), Stanford and University of San Francisco (USF). With Katie Le participating in the ITA National Indoors in New York, the Broncos fought hard in their last tournament of the fall in Santa Clara.

Kelly Lamble (KL) started playing tennis at a very young age and has worked very hard to build her career to what it is today. Playing for the Broncos is a family affair for Lamble, as her father has played here and her brother currently plays for the Broncos as well. Lamble holds this close to her heart because she loves having the support of her family especially considering it is something they all share. Bronco Women's Tennis Finish Successful ITA Regional Championships
The Bronco’s women’s tennis team participated in the ITA Northwest Regional Championships held at Stanford University over the weekend. Although Katie Le was expected to be one of the tournament favorites, Le was not able to compete due to an injury that cost her to withdrew from St. Mary’s Invitational last weekend.

SCU Women's Tennis Adds Blake Mosley To Coaching Staff
Bringing more than 22 years of coaching tennis to the Mission campus, Blake Mosley has been hired as an assistant coach with the Bronco women’s tennis program as announced by head coach Ben Cabell. Mosley comes to Santa Clara after spending five years as the head women’s tennis coach at Chaminade University in Hawaii.

Katie Le Scores Huge Upset In Redding

Le recently upset the No. 188 player in the world at the USTA Oak River Rehab Challenger. Le won her first round against a top 500 player, won easily in the second round against the No. 2 seed and then fell in the quarterfinals to Sachie Ishizu of Japan, who is also ranked in top 500 in the world.

Battling To Third Set, Katie Le Falls In Santa Clara's First-Ever NCAA Women's Singles Championship Match
Making history Wednesday by playing in Santa Clara’s first-ever NCAA Women's Singles Championship match, Bronco sophomore Katie Le pushed it to a third set in singles with a thrilling second-set victory, but couldn’t hold on and lost 6-7(4), 7-5 and 0-6 to No. 37 Abigail Tere-Apisah of Georgia State.
