SCU Women's Tennis Defeats Xavier, 5-2

SANTA CLARA, Calif.- The Santa Clara women's tennis team ended their two-match losing streak with a 5-2 win against Xavier on Monday, Mar. 1. at Degheri Tennis Center. The Broncos improve to 6-3 on the season and are 2-2 in West Coast Conference play.

After losing the doubles point to Xavier, Santa Clara refocused to win five out of six singles matches to earn the overall win. Freshman Kelly Lamble kicked off the Broncos' winning streak at the No. 2 position, defeating Tiffanie Treece, 6-1, 6-2.

Sophomore captain Kacie Wagner earned her first win since arriving back on the team after an injury sidelined her during the first half of the season. Wagner defeated Jill Ducro 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 3 singles position.

Freshmen Maggie McGeorge, Jessica Agra and junior Carmen Pham also earned a W in their singles matches to give Santa Clara the final score 5-2.

The Broncos will take on UNR at Reno this Sunday, Mar. 7.
