SANTA CLARA, Calif.- The Bronco women's tennis team will embark on their first road trip of the season at the UC Davis Aggies on Fri., Jan. 30. The team is 1-1 after falling to Cal Poly last weekend.
"We have a pretty good rivalry with UC Davis," said Bronco head coach Ben Cabell. "We're pretty even with them so we're going to have to play our best. It's going to take an effort from everyone."
Scouting UC Davis
UC Davis is 2-2 this season. Last week the Aggies fell to No. 21 Arizona State in a 7-0 loss. The Aggies will travel to Palo Alto to compete against No. 5 Stanford on Jan. 28 prior to playing Santa Clara. Head coach Bill Maze is in his 11th season with the Aggies and is a three-time winner of the CCAA Coach of the Year award.
Last Time Out
Santa Clara was defeated by Cal Poly in a 6-1 loss at home on Jan. 24. Sophomore Courtney Hull earned the lone point of the day for the Broncos, defeating Cal Poly's Steffi Wong in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0 in the No. 5 singles position. Freshmen Kimmi Cox and Isabelle Hoy had their first collegiate appearances of the season, with Cox partnering with sophomore Carmen Phan in doubles and Hoy playing in her first singles match against Cal Poly's Diane Filip at the No. 6 position.
