SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's tennis team heads to Moraga this weekend in hopes of replicating the team's success at the Saint Mary's Invitational from last season. The Broncos will take part in the 2007 Saint Mary's Invitational from Friday, Oct. 12-Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Korth Tennis Complex. Eight players will make the trip to Moraga for the top flight tournament.

This year's tournament includes Stanford, California, Fresno State, Loyola Marymount, Portland, Gonzaga, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Pacific, San Jose State, UC Davis, Sonoma State, Sacramento State and Nevada.

Last season, the Broncos had a fantastic weekend in Moraga with Lindsay McBride reaching the Flight B singles final and Casey Knutson winning the Flight B consolation bracket. The entire team had a great weekend, starting from the first day when the Broncos posted a cumulative 12-2 record on the day in singles and doubles. Myra Davoudi and McBride also teamed up to reach the Flight B doubles semifinals.

The tournament is broken into Blue, Red and White brackets this weekend. McBride, Davoudi and Stephanie Galainena are scheduled to play in the Blue bracket against the top players in the draw. Competing in the Red bracket are three freshmen, Andrea Kwong, Ashley Pane and Carmen Pham. In the White bracket will be Meghan Madden and Courtney Hull. Hull is coming off a tournament win in the White bracket at the Cal Invitational on Sept. 30.

In doubles, Kwong and Pane will participate in the Blue bracket, while the Broncos' other three pairings, McBride and Pham, Galainena and Davoudi and Hull and Madden, are all entered into the White bracket.
