Women's Tennis Bests UC Davis

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's tennis team defeated UC Davis 6-1 this afternoon at the Degheri Tennis Center. The Broncos are now 9-8 overall, while the Aggies falls to 9-6.

UC Davis scored the match's first point of the afternoon by clinching the doubles point. After taking court three, Ally Muller and Nancy Mok paired at the top singles slot for a tiebreaker win over Broncos Janalle Kaloi and Catherine Cochrane. Freshmen Erika Barnes and Kelly Leathers avoided the sweep with their team-leading 11th doubles win of the season, 8-2 over Jennifer Fong and Christy Battig.

The Broncos went on two sweep singles action. Kaloi clinched the team victory with her 6-4, 6-3 win over Muller at the top singles slot. The win marked her 10th of the season. Leathers and Barnes completed the sweep with their respective come-from-behind victories.

The Broncos will take on San Jose State in the team's next outing, scheduled for Wednesday in Los Gatos. Next Saturday, Santa Clara will visit Sacramento State. The Broncos will return home to the Degheri Tennis Center on Friday, April 16, for their final home match of the season, hosting San Francisco. All three matches have scheduled 2 p.m. first serves.
