SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's tennis program is inviting guests to join the team on its trip to Hawaii, set to take place Wednesday, Feb. 19 through Monday, Feb. 24. The team has received a travel discount as part of the group rate.
It will be a return home for sophomore Janalle Kaloi, a Honolulu native. Kaloi was named the West Coast Conference's Freshman of the Year last season.
"We have four seniors who want to make this road trip their last hurrah," head coach Aby Ryan said. "We would like to have Bronco fans and supporters join us."
The Broncos will arrive in Honolulu in the early afternoon on the 19th and spend their first day on an open-air bus tour of the island of Oahu.
The Broncos will play three matches while in Hawaii, taking on Division II top-ranked BYU-Hawaii on Thursday, Feb. 20. That contest is scheduled at 11 a.m. local time, with a luau at the Hawaiian Cultural Center to follow.
On the team's off day on Friday, the squad will be taking scuba diving and surfing lessons. Santa Clara will return to the courts for a Saturday contest, looking for an upset victory against preseason ranked No. 30 San Diego State. That contest will take place at the University of Hawaii at 10 a.m. The Broncos will close out competition against host Hawaii on Sunday and depart for the continental states on Monday afternoon.
Round trip air fare on Hawaiian Airlines will be $350 and hotel accommodations will be $65 per night for a double occupancy room.

The Broncos continue the fall season this weekend, participating in a tournament hosted by Stanford University in Palo Alto. The spring season gets underway January 31, 2003, when the Broncos host San Jose State at 2 p.m.
