Forman-Lau Earns Third Straight PCSC Pitcher of the Week Honor
May 6, 2003 LOS ANGELES - Santa Clara University softball pitcher Jaime Forman-Lau earned her seventh league honor of the season-and third straight-as this week's selection as the Pacific Coast Softball Conference's Pitcher of the Week. Forman-Lau, a junior from San Jose, has now received this honor seven times in the 14-week history of the award. She went 3-1 last week, throwing all four games, including two complete contests. Forman-Lau allowed only eight hits in 24 innings, and on three hits for extra bases. She struck out 25 batter and finished the weekend with a perfect 0.00 ERA. She has now started the last eight PCSC games for Santa Clara, pitching a conference-leading 80 innings in league contests. The PCSC is in its inaugural season, and made Forman-Lau the first to earn pitcher of the week honors in league history with her Feb. 5 selection. She repeated the recognition on Feb. 12, March 18, April 8, April 22 and April 29. The conference is comprised of six schools: Sacramento State, Loyola Marymount, Portland State, Saint Mary's, Santa Clara, and San Diego. Prior to joining the PCSC, Santa Clara was a member of the Western Athletic Conference.
The Broncos are 30-23 overall and 12-4 in league action, and will play Saint Mary's this afternoon in must-win games, as today's doubleheader will determine the inaugural PCSC title. A split or two SMC victories would result in Loyola Marymount having a better winning percentage, and therefore being named PCSC Champions.
