Jackie Morales Named PCSC Pitcher of the Week

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara senior Jackie Morales was named the PCSC Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 1-7. In this past weekend's conference opening series against the defending PCSC champs, Loyola Marymount, Morales earned decisions in all four games, going 3-1 with a 3.68 ERA with five strikeouts and just three walks. She also went 2-for-7 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored. Morales also made two appearances against Cal State Bakersfield last Tuesday, taking the loss in the first game. Over six appearances this week, Morales went 3-2 with a 4.35 ERA, including four starts and ten strikeouts. For the season she is 5-12 with a 5.48 ERA in 26 appearances including 16 starts. Upcoming The Broncos will host their first home conference game this weekend with a twin bill double-header against Sacramento State. There will be two games starting at noon on Saturday, April 12 and two more starting at noon on Sunday, April 13. Last Week Santa Clara opened up their 2008 PCSC season in convincing fashion. Opening up the conference season against 25-11 LMU, the Broncos stunned the Lions with a 5-3 win to start the day off. LMU took the second game of the day 9-0 in five innings, but Santa Clara came back on Sunday with a vengeance, winning both games on the day 6-3 and 6-2. Notes Going Long Workhorse
Getting Big Hits and Getting Hit Big Edmonson had four RBI this weekend, which gives her a team best 16 this season. On a completely separate note, Edmonson was also hit by a pitch this weekend, making it five times she has been pegged this year, tying her for the conference lead. |
