Forman-Lau Earns Third PCSC Pitcher of the Week Honor

March 18, 2003

LOS ANGELES - Santa Clara University softball team member Jaime Forman-Lau earned her third league honor of the season as this week's selection as the Pacific Coast Softball Conference's Pitcher of the Week.

Forman-Lau, a junior, struck out 16 batters in Santa Clara's 4-0 victory over Southern Utah University in the opening game of a non-conference double-header last Thursday. The game was played in windy and slightly-rainy conditions, but it didn't slow Forman-Lau. She struck out the first five batters and eight of the first nine en route to a season high 16 Ks. She closed strong as well, striking out four of the last six.

Forman-Lau moves to 9-7 on the year, allowing only one hit on the afternoon and walking 0 batters.

The PCSC is in its inaugural season, and made Forman-Lau the first to earn pitcher of the week honors in league history with her Feb. 5 selection. She repeated the recognition on Feb. 12. The conference is comprised of six schools: Sacramento State, Loyola Marymount, Portland State, Saint Mary's, Santa Clara, and San Diego. Prior to joining the PCSC, Santa Clara was a member of the Western Athletic Conference.

The Broncos, 14-12 on the season, will return to the field on Saturday, hosting Illinois-Chicago in a non-conference double-header. First pitch is set for noon at Marsalli Park.
