Santa Clara, Calif. - The Santa Clara University softball team intends to play all home games during the 2013 season on the new softball field adjacent to the Leavey Center, pending approvals from the Pacific Coast Softball Conference and the City of Santa Clara. Santa Clara informed the Bronco softball team of this at Wednesday's practice.

The university will continue to fund-raise for all the permanent features needed to complete the softball facility project, such as bleachers, bathrooms, and an automated scoreboard. In addition, fund-raising for the new stadium will also include an opportunity for stadium naming.

During this interim period, the university will provide temporary accommodations such as temporary bull pens, bathrooms, a scoreboard and seating that comply with Pacific Coast Softball Conference regulations for game play.

"We are thrilled with the way the softball field is turning out," said Santa Clara Athletic Director Dan Coonan.  "We still have a great deal of fund-raising to do to enable us to have a permanent scoreboard, bleachers, dugouts, bathrooms, press box, etc.  However, this will be a terrific home for the program this year.  We are anticipating that the Conference and the City will grant us the approvals we are seeking."
