SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Pacific Coast Softball Conference named 11 different Broncos to the PCSC Commissioners Honor Roll in 2008. Senior Noelani Hoopii earned academic honors, as well as All-PCSC Honorable Mention honors. Hoopii led the team with a .292 batting average, started and played in all 60 games and hit four homeruns. She is the only senior on the team this season and will serve as captain.

Joining Hoopii earning academic honors were juniors Breann Netto, Lauren Passafuime, Nicole Picard and Britney Sanford. In their freshmen season Amanda Edmonson, Jackie Nicora, Jeanine Ruffoni and Stephanie Smith were also honored. Graduates in 2008, Ashley Blier and Maggie Godfrey were honored in their final season at SCU.

"It is great to see so many members of our team being successful in the classroom," said head coach Lisa Mize. "I know they all work really hard on and off the field, and this is a true testament to the kind of student-athletes we have at Santa Clara."

The Broncos begin the fall campaign on Saturday, Oct. 11, when they compete in the Battle of the Bay in Hayward, Calif. They will take on Ohlone College at noon, followed by Chico State at 4 p.m.
