Santa Clara Shut Out Against Stanford
April 15, 2008
STANFORD, Calif. - The Santa Clara softball team faced off against Stanford this Tuesday, only to find themselves on the wrong end of a no-hitter. The Cardinal's Ashley Chinn pitched five innings of no-hit ball against the Broncos, while getting 12 runs of support as well.
Jackie Morales started on the mound and gave up a three-run homerun to start the game, then after an error by the shortstop gave up three more unearned runs before being pulled in favor of Kaitlyn Rauschnot. Rauschnot lasted until the end of the fourth inning, giving up five runs, three earned. Morales came in to finish what she started and struck out the last batter for Stanford.
Maggie Godfrey was the only Bronco to reach base safely, when the second baseman made an error with two outs in the fifth inning, to spoil Chinn's perfect game.
Santa Clara gets back into PCSC play this weekend with two double-headers on Saturday and Sunday starting at noon as they travel to take on San Diego.
