Santa Clara Shut Out Against Nevada
Feb. 10, 2008
Los Angeles, Calif.-- The Santa Clara softball team is having a rough start to their season at the Fullerton/UCLA Tournament, with a 8-0 loss to Nevada dropping them to 0-4 to start the year.
The Broncos managed just three hits and gave up four unearned runs due in part to five errors in the six inning game. This following an 8-6 loss to UC Santa Barbara and a five inning, 27-1 loss to UCLA on Saturday.
Breann Netto, Noelani Ho'opi'i, and freshman Jackie Nicora supplied the lone hits for Santa Clara, all singles. Jackie Morales pitched the majority of the game for the Broncos, 5.2 innings, giving up eight runs, four earned, on 12 hits and four walks. Kaitlyn Rauschnot came in to finish up the game, facing and retiring one batter.
Santa Clara gets back out onto the field later in the afternoon in a rematch against Cal State Fullerton.
