Los Angeles, Calif-- The Santa Clara softball team had a rough go of it in their first game of the season Friday, falling 7-3 to Cal State Fullerton in the Fullerton/UCLA Tournament. Jackie Morales pitched 4.1 innings and took the loss after giving up six runs, five of them earned.
The Broncos only managed three hits in the game and scored all their runs in the 5th to tie the game at 3. But Fullerton came back with a vengeance, scoring four runs in their very next at-bat.
Morales gave up 6 hits to go along with her five earned runs and was replaced by Kaitlyn Rauschnot in the fifth. Rauschnot gave up one unearned run and two hits in her 1.2 innings of work.
The Broncos get back on the field Saturday against UC Santa Barbara in the morning and UCLA in the afternoon.
