STANFORD, Calif. - The Santa Clara University softball team fell to Pacific 3-2 to close tournament action at the Stanford Classic, hosted by the Cardinal at the Boyd & Jill Smith Family Stadium. Santa Clara is now 1-5 on the season. Pacific is 3-1.
Down 3-0 in the top of the sixth, Santa Clara put two runs on the board to begin a comeback with back-to-back doubles by Kate Goethals and Jessica Clee. Goethals' hit brought home Vanessa Werner, who reached base on a fielder's choice.
Pacific scored two runs in the bottom of the second, behind four hits, and followed with another run in the third, off a triple from Lizzie Hagen.
