Final Stats

STANFORD, Calif. - The Santa Clara University softball team lost to 15th-ranked Stanford 4-1 this afternoon in the final day of action of the Stanford Invitational, played at the Boyd & Jill Smith Family Stadium. The Broncos finished the tournament 2-3 and move to 4-11 on the season.

In the top of the seventh, the Broncos managed their one run of the game. Junior Vanessa Werner singled to center field and advanced to third on an error by the Cardinal centerfielder. Sophomore Jessica Clee singled to right field to drive home Werner. Clee finished the day 3-for-3 at the plate.

Senior Jaime Forman-Lau took the loss for the Broncos, allowing six hits and striking out three Cardinal batters.

Santa Clara recorded one run, on five hits and had one error. Stanford recorded four runs, on six hits and one error.

The Broncos will return to action on March 3 at San Jose State Field to take on Santa Clara rival San Jose State. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
