LOS ANGELES - Santa Clara University softball pitcher Jaime Forman-Lau earned her fourth league honor of the season as this week's selection as the Pacific Coast Softball Conference's Pitcher of the Week.
Forman-Lau, a junior, struck out 34 batters this past week, throwing two complete games while walking only one batter. Her record improves to 13-9.
She led the Broncos to a victory in their PCSC inaugural opener against Loyola Marymount on Saturday, striking out 11 batters. She struck out 11 more in a one-run loss to the Lions on Sunday.
In the second game of the doubleheader on Sunday, Forman-Lau earned her second save of the season with seven strikeouts in three innings of relief.
The PCSC is in its inaugural season, and made Forman-Lau the first to earn pitcher of the week honors in league history with her Feb. 5 selection. She repeated the recognition on Feb. 12 and March 18. The conference is comprised of six schools: Sacramento State, Loyola Marymount, Portland State, Saint Mary's, Santa Clara, and San Diego. Prior to joining the PCSC, Santa Clara was a member of the Western Athletic Conference.
The Broncos are 20-18 on the season 2-2 in league play, and will return to the field on Saturday, visiting Saint Mary's in a conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for noon in Moraga.
