SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Santa Clara University softball team member Jaime Forman-Lau was named the Pacific Coast Softball Conference's first Pitcher of the Week,
Forman-Lau, a junior who transferred from Stanford to the Bronco program, led the Broncos with a 2-1 record at the season-opening Early Bird Tournament, hosted by UC Santa Barbara.
The San Jose native posted 21 strikeouts in 17 innings and a 2.04 ERA to lead the team. She walked just seven batters and only allowed four extra-base hits. She closed out the tournament with a 10-strikout performance in only four innings against Long Beach State on Sunday.
The PCSC is in its inaugural season, making Forman-Lau the first to earn pitcher of the week honors in league history. The conference is comprised of six schools: Sacramento State, Loyola Marymount, Portland State, Saint Mary's, Santa Clara, and San Diego. Prior to joining the PCSC, Santa Clara was a member of the Western Athletic Conference.
Santa Clara will return to action on Thursday at the Chevron Paradise Classic in Honolulu. The Broncos open the tournament with games against Washington and Louisville. On Friday, SCU will play Oklahoma State and host Hawaii. Saturday and Sundays games will be based on results from the first two days of competition.
