Oct. 26, 2008

Box Score

MALIBU, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's soccer team (4-11-3, 1-3-1 WCC) concluded their Southern California road trip with a loss to conference foe Pepperdine, 2-1. Junior Katherine Reynolds converted her second penalty kick of the season, as she scored the Broncos' lone goal on the day after Santa Clara was fouled in the box in the 48th minute. Reynolds had four shots in the game up top at forward.

Maxine Goynes and Anessa Patton played alongside Reynolds at striker, tallying three shots apiece. The sophomore pair worked throughout the afternoon to create scoring opportunities, but could not get a shot past Pepperdine's goal keeper Kayla Stolte, who had four saves.

Meagan McCray and Bianca Henninger split time in goal for SCU. The senior McCray notched four saves in the first half, and conceded the Waves' two goals off the feet of Amanda Rupp and Alexis Farler, respectively. Freshman Henninger kept Pepperdine scoreless in the second half.

Santa Clara returns to action next Sunday, Nov. 2 to take on No. 3 Portland live on ESPNU in Portland, Ore. Kick off is set for 1:30 p.m.
