No. 24 Women's Soccer Falls in Overtime to Cal Poly at Santa Clara/adidas Soccer Classic

Sept. 20, 2008

Recap |  Box Score

Head coach Jerry Smith, on Cal Poly winning in overtime: "It was a confusing goal for a lot of people, as another player [for Cal Poly] was in an offsides position and the lines judge raised his flag so we stopped playing. We should have not stopped playing because the player who scored was not in an offsides position and it was the correct call."

Smith, on the team's performance: "I was very proud of the effort we put into the game, especially after we gave up the first goal. We played very well tonight; we just need to figure out how to prevent goals from going in because we are very good between the two penalty boxes."

Smith, on playing in the penalty box: "The ball is moving, our team is combining and we are keeping possession. We just are not scoring as much as we should and we are not preventing goals as much we should, both are penalty box issues."
