Jan 24, 2012 - Women's Soccer Morgan Marlborough Transfers To Santa Clara Santa Clara women's soccer has landed one of the top goal-scorers in the nation with the transfer of senior-to-be Morgan Marlborough from the University of Nebraska. Marlborough is the back-to-back Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and All-American. She will have to sit out the 2012 season due to the NCAA's transfer rules. [more]
Jan 13, 2012 - Women's Soccer All-American Henninger Taken in WPS Draft Santa Clara All-American goalkeeper Bianca Henninger was taken with the first pick in the third round, 13th overall, by the Philadelphia Independence in the 2012 Women's Professional Soccer Draft on Friday. Henninger joins a long list of Broncos to be selected in the WPS Draft including Jordan Angelis (second round), Kiki Bosio (third round), Amanda Poach (third round) Katherine Reynolds (fourth round) and Meagan Snell (fifth round) in 2010. Dec 9, 2011 - Women's Soccer Two Broncos Named All-Americans Coming off a 13-win season and the 23rd trip to the NCAA Tournament in the program's history , the Santa Clara University women's soccer team was honored with two All-America selections. Sophomore midfielder Julie Johnston was the lone Bronco to be named a First Team All-American and goalkeeper Bianca Henninger was named to the Third Team. [more]
Dec 5, 2011 - Women's Soccer 2011 Santa Clara Women's Soccer Season In Review In a season in which it went to the 23rd NCAA Tournament in school history, the Santa Clara University women's soccer team (13-2-6; 6-1-1 WCC) reestablished the lofty standards set by a program that has made 10 College Cup appearances and took home a national championship in 2001. The Broncos reached as high as No. 7 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll after topping undefeated and then-No. 3 Pepperdine on Oct. 28. The Broncos won 13 games for the third consecutive season but cut their losses from seven in 2009 and 2010 to two in 2011. [more]

Nov 12, 2011 - Women's Soccer Santa Clara Can't Advance Past Cal In NCAA Tournament's First Round In the first round of it's 23rd NCAA Tournament, No. 11 Santa Clara University women's soccer (13-2-6; 6-1-1 WCC) couldn't advance against California (12-7-3; 5-4-2 Pac-12) as the game ended in a 1-1 tie and Cal moved on on penalty kicks 4-3. Oct 31, 2011 - Women's Soccer Two Broncos Honored For Weekend Play For the second week in a row Bridgett Miller has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week. Coming off a week where she scored two game-winners, Miller scored the only goal in a 1-0 Bronco win over undefeated No. 3 Pepperdine and added another on Sunday at Loyola Marymount in a 4-0 Bronco win. The game will be the last regular season home game for the Broncos and will be Senior Day for the graduating class of four. Oct 24, 2011 - Women's Soccer In the Goal with Molly Mettler After redshirting as a freshman, Molly Mettler (MM) has gotten multiple chances to fill in at goal this year as a sophomore. None was bigger than when Mettler stepped in for the injured All-American Bianca Henninger in the waning minutes against Cal on September 25th. After closing the 3-0 shutout victory against Cal, Mettler went on to post two shutouts of her own against Nevada and San Diego State, respectively. Whether they are thrust into a starting role due to injury or they are coming off the bench to provide fresh legs, a reserve must be ready at all times. Kristi Candau (KC) was one of the key reserves for the 2001 Santa Clara national championship team. She appeared in 23 games while only making three starts. She made the most of her opportunities by scoring eight goals and adding three assists to rank fifth on the team with 19 points. Sep 30, 2011 - Women's Soccer 10 Years Later: Remembering The 2001 Santa Clara Women's Soccer National Championship with Alyssa Sobolik The 2001 national champion Santa Clara women's soccer roster featured five All-Americans, nine All-WCC performers and the WCC Player of the Year. One of the most important players on that team, however, was a freshman that did not receive any individual accolades. Goalkeeper Alyssa Sobolik (AS) went 14-2 in goal for the Broncos while making 32 saves and only allowing a 0.56 GAA. Of her 14 wins on the season, seven were shutouts, including a 1-0 shutout of North Carolina in the national championship game. The Broncos scored early on a header from Julie Johnston and never looked back. Johnston ended up with two goals on the day.
