Catching up with Celeste Kaashoek

Written by EYEBRONCO reporter, Kendra Cavaney '15

Very busy Celeste Kaashoek (CK) has had a lot going on this summer from traveling for three weeks, to training for her first upcoming collegiate season. Santa Clara Broncos (SCB) got the chance to ask Kaashoek a few questions.

SCB: How is your summer so far? What have you been doing?

CK: This has been my busiest summer yet. I went to Honolulu, Hawaii for a soccer tournament and then traveled to Europe for three weeks with my mom. We visited major cities like Barcelona, Brussels, Amsterdam, and Paris, and then just hung out with family in the Netherlands. Then, my last three weeks of summer have been dedicated to soccer training and preparing for the upcoming season.

SCB: One thing you're looking forward to here at Santa Clara?

CK: I'm looking forward to meeting new people! I love Santa Clara's emphasis on community.

SCB: Why did you choose SCU?

CK: I chose SCU because it will be the perfect combination between rigorous academics and competitive soccer. I knew that I wanted to play at a high level in college.

SCB: Any goals as a player for your first college season?

CK: For my first college season, I aim to make the travel team. I know it is tough for freshman to earn a lot of playing time, but I am excited to work hard for it and see what I can do.
