SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Five members of the Santa Clara women's soccer team received NSCAA All-West Region honors this week, with two each earning spots on the first and third teams, and one on the second team.
Seniors Jordan Angeli and Kiki Bosio garnered first team honors, while senior Katherine Reynolds was named to the second team. Sophomore goalkeeper Bianca Henninger and freshman Allie Vernon were included on the third team.
Angeli, a defender, finished the 2009 season with a team-leading seven goals and three assists thanks in part to her specialization on dead-ball restarts. Bosio, a forward, finished second on the team in points (13) after contributing three goals and 7 assists.
Reynolds, another defender, earned a spot on the MAC Hermann Award watch list at the beginning of the season and helped the Broncos hold their opponents to 0.87 goals-per-game and nine shutouts. Reynolds also had one goal and an assist.
Vernon, a midfielder, had two goals and an assist, including the game-winning strike against Pepperdine. Henninger compiled six shutouts, a 10-5-2 record, and posted a goals-against-average of 0.84. Henninger also was outstanding in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, scoring once in the game-deciding shootout and saving two attempts to defeat Oklahoma State.
