SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's golf team is continuing its relationship with the Make-A-Wish Foundation's Birdies for Wishes program, benefiting children who are terminally ill.

For every birdie recorded in competition by a Bronco during the 2004-05 season, friends, family and fans may make pledges. Pledges of 25 cents, 50 cents, $1 or $5 per birdie will be accepted in addition to one-time contributions.

In November, the Broncos made a check presentation to the Make-A-Wish foundation for the 2003-04 campaign, in which the squad raised $4,600. Santa Clara carded 147 birdies during the season.

"We hope to exceed that birdie count this season," head coach Polly Schulze said. "In fact, we have renamed birdies "wishes" since we know that with every birdie we card, we are closer to making a young person's wish come true."

During this season a running total of birdies will be posted on-line at santaclarabroncos.com. At the end of the year, all contributions will be made to the Bay Area Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation in the name of the Santa Clara University Women's Golf Program.

Donors or corporations who are willing to match the amount the Broncos raise to donate to the team are asked to contact Schulze, via email at pschulze@scu.edu or via phone at 408-554-5742.
