Women's Golf Finishes Fourth at SCU Colby Invitational

CARMEL, Calif. - The University of Oregon captured the team title at the SCU Colby Invitational after firing a final round 303 on the West Course of the Rancho Canada Golf Club in Carmel, Calif. The Ducks finished six shots ahead of Idaho, seven ahead of Long Beach State and 10 strokes better than the host, Santa Clara.

Michelle Timpani of Oregan claimed medallist honors on the sixth hole of her sudden-death playoff with Lindsay Snowden of UC Riverside. Both players concluded the tournament with a two-day total of 146 following a final round 71. Marie Louise Juul of Long Beach State finished alone in third place, just one stroke behind Timpani and Snowden.

Coutney Dimpel-Composti was the low finisher for the Broncos following her back-to-back rounds of 74, placing her in a tie for fourth place with Johnna Nealy of Oregon and Cathleen O'Neill of UC Riverside.

Santa Clara sohpomore Meggie Fagundes finished in a tie for 23rd with her tournament total of 154, while teammates Samantha Trask and Candice Palmer each concluded the invitational in 31st place with their two-round total of 156. Fagundes fired a final round 77 while Trask and Palmer carded rounds of 76 and 80, respectively.

Paige Wilson rounded out the Bronco scoring with her final round 79, placing her in a tie for 59th with a 165 total. Whitney Saulsberry and Caitlyn McNary each participated as individuals for SCU with Saulsberry finishing 72nd with her 174 score and McNary in a tie for 74th, just three strokes behind Saulsberry.

Santa Clara returns to action on April 5-6 at the Matador Spring Invitational hosted by Cal State Northridge. Following that tournament the Broncos will take part in the West Coast Conference Championships on April 12-13 at the Riverbend Golf Club in Madera, Calif.
