FRESNO, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's golf team battled through cold, wind and rain Monday at the Kitihara Fresno State Invitational at the Copper River Country Club. After 18 holes, the Broncos are tied for 11th place with a combined score of 314.

Junior Corey Utsurogi led the way for Santa Clara, shooting a first round of 75, tying her for tenth individually. Utsurogi was followed by senior Samantha Trask who shot 78, and then by Jennifer Sun, Jamie Nonaka and Megan Stoddart, who shot 80, 81, and 82, respectively.

"I am really happy about the way the girls played today," Schulze said. "It was cold, rainy and windy, but the girls hung in there all day. So far we have met our goals and we are looking forward to coming out strong tomorrow."

The final round is scheduled for Tuesday, pending weather conditions.
