Women's Golf in 12th at Bay Area Classic

VALLEJO, Calif. - After the first day of the Bay Area Classic at Hiddenbrooke Golf Course in Vallejo, the University of Washington, led by first-round leader Kelli Kamimura, is in the lead with a score of 299. San Diego State (309), co-host Cal (310), co-host San Francisco (323) and Weber State (329) round out the top-five on the Arnold Palmer Signature 5,850-yard par-72 course. Kamimura, who was the 1999 Bay Area Classic Champion with a 142 (67-75--142), continued her strong play for the Huskies. Sophomore Jessica Abbott led Santa Clara, carding an 83 good for a share of 28th place. She was the only Broncos in the 80s, as junior Sarah Dahm was second on the team with an 18-over 90. Overall, the team is in 12th place. The final round of the tournament begins with an 8:30 shotgun start on Tuesday.
