BEAUMONT, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's golf team set a high goal for themselves after a tough first round at the Lady Braveheart Challenge. After finishing third the last two years, they weren't about to let a third Top-3 finish get away, and they sure didn't. Samantha Trask bounced back to her usual self and the Broncos shot a combined 312, 15 strokes better than in their first round to finish in sole possession of third place.

Tuesday the Broncos were led by senior Samantha Trask, who shot a team-best 75. Trask bounced back superbly after a tough first round of 89. Corey Utsurogi and Jennifer Sun each knocked three strokes off of their first round scores as the Broncos put together the best team-round of the tournament along with San Diego State University, who also had a final round team-score of 312.

The women's golf team has two weeks before their next tournament, the Fresno State Invitational which begins on Monday, February 26th at Copper River Country Club.
