LAKESIDE, Calif. - The final 18 holes of the Lady Aztec Invitational was canceled due to rain, making the first-round results from yesterday's play stand as the final results of the tournament.

Three members of Santa Clara's women's golf team played on the Barona Creek Country Course, a par-72 layout measuring 6,140 yards. Sophomore Jessica Abbott led the Broncos with a first-round 84, 12 strokes over par, finishing in a tie for 48th place. Sophomore Katie Gross shot a 24-over 96 in the first round and tied for 86th place while newcomer Melanie LaVaute shot a 149.

Junior Sarah Dahm did not compete after suffering a reinjury to her back.

The Broncos will next be in action at the Bay Area Classic, Feb. 26-67 in San Francisco.
