SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Coming off a pair of team and individual titles, Santa Clara women's golf closes out its fall season hosting the annual Colby Invitational beginning Monday at the 6,181-yard, par-72 Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose. Teams and individuals will play 36 holes the first day with a single 18-hole round on Tuesday.

"We're really excited to close out our fall season here at home," head coach Krystal Kelly said. "Silver Creek is challenging so it's crucial that we stick to our game plan and stay patient. This entire season we have focused more on the prep and process vs. the outcome, so that will be our focus over the next few days."

Six other teams will attempt to dethrone the defending champion Broncos, who have won three of the last five Colby Invitational team titles. Cal State Bakersfield, Cal State Northridge, IUPUI, Montana State, Utah Valley and Weber State are all scheduled to compete.

With junior Kristin Le claiming individual medalist honors, the Broncos won the team title last week at the Lady Mustang Invitational. At the beginning of October, Santa Clara took first at the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate with senior Annie Freman earning her sixth career individual title.

Joining those two on the Broncos' five-player team are juniors Kyleigh Moreno and Isabella Salant, along with freshman Chloe Wong. Sophomores Cynthia Navis, Keilyn Ing and freshman Isabella Seeburger will compete as individuals.

"We have some great momentum coming off of last week," Kelly noted. "Hopefully the weather cooperates over the next three days. The course is in good shape considering the two inches of rain we just received."

The tournament is named in honor of Marygrace Colby, who was hired by Santa Clara University in 1963 "to direct and instruct young women in recreational and athletic pursuits." For years, Marygrace selflessly and single-handedly coached ALL women's sports at Santa Clara.
