Feb. 16, 2009
CHULA VISTA, Calif. - The second round of the 2009 Aztec Invitational, hosted by San Diego State, was postponed due to rain Monday. Teams will finish out the second round Tuesday morning, before beginning the third and final round with a shotgun start.
Santa Clara was one of six teams to complete the second round. The Bronco compiled a score of 331. Miki Ueoka continued her solid play with a stellar 78 in such tough conditions. Jamie Nonaka has a strong back nine 39 in a rainstorm to fire an 82. Erin Sullivan shot 85, and Tammy Surtees and Kimberly Bedolla both shot 86.
"Although scores were a lot higher today, we are please that we sit in front of two teams that are ranked higher than us," said head coach Polly Schulze. "Miki is a solid competitor and thrives off of playing against the best collegiate players in the nation. We look forward to playing some good golf tomorrow and hopefully finishing above some tougher teams."
