Ella Sanman Wins Comcast Community All-Star Award

March 16, 2007

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara University sophomore Ella Sanman was named the Comcast Community All-Star award winner for the month of January. A member of the women's golf team, Sanman was presented with the award by Senior Associate Athletic Director Jonathan Clough at the women's basketball game against Pepperdine on Feb. 24.

Sanman helped organize a community service day for Santa Clara student athletes during the winter quarter, an event that saw almost the entire women's golf team participate. She is also currently growing her hair out for the second time to donate to the Locks of Love program. Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.

Sanman is in her second year as a member of the women's golf team and has played in three tournaments this season for SCU. The Broncos get back in action on March 29 when they play Harvard and San Francisco in San Martin. The WCC Championships take place from April 16-18 in Lompoc, Calif.

The Comcast Community All-Star Award is presented to Santa Clara student-athletes who are active in benefiting their local community. The award was developed two years ago and is presented monthly to a different student-athlete who is positively contributing their time and energy to help others.
