KUNA, Idaho -- Santa Clara University women's golf junior Samantha Trask placed 11th individually at the Bronco Invitational, hosted by Boise State at Falcon Crest Golf Course in Kuna, Idaho. As a team, the Broncos placed 14th in their first 54-hole event of the season.
Santa Clara improved with each round, and carded a 320-318-316--954 for the tournament to place 14th out of 18 teams. SMU won the event by 11 strokes, over Colorado State and Colorado. Fresno State placed fourth and the host Boise State squad finished fifth.
Samantha Trask carded a seven-over-par 72-75-76--223 to place 11th and lead the Broncos. Courtney Dimpel-Composti was the next Bronco finisher, tied for 60th place with a 241. Candice Palmer and Jennifer Sun posted a 248 and 249, respectively,, and Corey Utsurogi added a 255.
SMU's Jennifer Ackerson was the tournament's top finisher, with a seven-under 209. She led a group of four players who carded three rounds at-or-under par.
The Broncos will continue their fall season in two weeks, with participation at the Kent Youel Invitational, hosted by the University of Hawaii Oct. 26-27 on the island of Oahu.
