SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara University women's golfers Anne Bowden and Courtney Dimpel-Composti posted good numbers over the weekend at the Santa Cruz City Amateur Golf Tournament held at the DeLaveaga Golf Club.

Dimpel-Composti fired rounds of 82 and 81 to finish with the third lowest gross score and in sixth place officially in the net results. Her final round of 81 was higher than expected due to slow starts on both nines. She began the both the front and back four-over par on the first four holes, but recovered nicely to post the 81.

"For Courtney, the last six holes on Sunday were a huge success for her," said head coach Polly Schulze. "This is what she has been working so hard on all summer. Learning to control her emotions on the course. It is good to see her hard work is paying off which will hopefully translate to her play during the upcoming season for us."

Bowden recorded rounds of 85 and 84 to finish with the fourth lowest total in the gross scoring, with her official net finish placing her seventh. For Bowden, playing back-to-back rounds without any pain in her back was significant. She missed most of her freshman season due to her back injury.

"I can always count on Anne playing very steady golf with no big numbers thrown in," said Schulze. "When she is healthy, I'd like to get her working more on hitting greens and lowering her putting average. If we can accomplish this, she should be very competitive for us this year."
