Women's Rowing Has Strong Showing at Davis Invitational
Santa Clara women’s rowing opened the season at the Davis Invitational on Saturday. The Broncos had a strong showing, finishing first in the Varsity 8, Varsity 4, Novice 4, and JV 4, while finishing second in the Novice 8. The Broncos raced against crews from Mills College, Cal, and UC Davis. Click here for full results.

Two Women's Rowers Named Preseason All-WCC

Santa Clara Women's Rowing to Host Black Velvet Feb. 21
Santa Clara women's rowing will celebrate the tradition of Black Velvet on Sat., Feb. 21 at the Lexington Reservoir. The celebration marks the beginning of the spring rowing season. This year at the boat blessing the Broncos will be dedicating a new 40th anniversary four, the "40th Anniversary 1974-2014" and a new pair, "The Duber." The Duber was named after Robert Dubcich who passed from thyroid cancer and is the reason Santa Clara women's rowing works to create awareness of thyroid cancer.

Pasta Feed and Bronco Legends Celebration
On Sat., Jan. 17, 2015 Santa Clara University Alumni Association will host a Pasta Feed and Bronco Legends Celebration in the Pat Malley Fitness Center. The Pasta Feed will being at 12:30 with a men’s basketball game vs. San Francisco to follow at 3 p.m. This year's Bronco Legends program will honor the 50th Anniversary of Rowing at SCU.

Amelia Lyle Brings New Energy to the Water
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Although new to the sport, Amelia Lyle (AL) is bringing ambition and endless energy to her first year on the Santa Clara women’s rowing team. Women's Rowing Teams with ThyCa for Thyroid Cancer Awareness
Santa Clara women's rowing will be conducting a four-day initiative to promote awareness of Thyroid Cancer on behalf of ThyCa, the Thyroid Cancer Survivor's Association. Starting on Tues., Dec. 2, the Broncos will run an information and awareness table at Santa Clara Preview day, all-day, for incoming freshmen through Thurs., Dec. 4. The efforts will include an "ergathon" in front of Benson Student Center all week from 11-2, where the team will be taking donations to go directly to ThyCa and support the effort to fight thyroid cancer.

Women's Rowing Starts Strong at Head of the Lagoon
Santa Clara women’s rowing opened its season on Nov. 10 with the Head of the Lagoon in Foster City, Calif. The Broncos competed in the Novice 8+, Varsity 4+, and Novice 4+. The start of the races was delayed an hour and a half due to heavy fog.

Women's Rowing Finishes Season at WCC Championships; Two Named All-Conference
With the season now in the rearview mirror, Santa Clara women’s rowing had two rowers named to the All-West Coast Conference Rowing Team. Seniors Megan Alferness and Blair Mitchell both received the honors after being named Preseason All-WCC as well. The Broncos also wrapped up their season at the WCC Championships where they competed in the I Eight and II Eight.
