SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's crew celebrated a record breaking year in 2003 with its annual season-ending awards banquet on Sunday. The Broncos gathered to relive some of the great moments and honor three of their rowers.
Second year head coach Stephanie Shepherd guided the Broncos to a third place finish at the 2003 West Coast Conference championships. She also witnessed the varsity squad post a program best time of 6:52.0 at the Dad Vail Regatta, qualifying for the petite finals where they finished third.
Shepherd handed out the awards on Sunday afternoon, awarding the Varsity MVP honors to Erin Hussey who sat in the stroke seat for the Broncos. Holly Miller took home the Junior Varsity MVP honors while Lindsay Uchikura was voted on by her teammates as the Most Inspirational. The final honor of the evening went to Miller as she was honored as the only senior and four-year rower on the 2002-2003 squad.
