PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Santa Clara University men's crew entered three boats in the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta, two of which advanced to the semifinals which will be held on Saturday in Philadelphia, Pa.
The men's novice four won its heat in a time of 7:14.7, 27.5 seconds ahead of the second place finisher, Marquette, to advance to Saturday's semifinal. The Broncos will race in semifinal No. 3 at 7:35 a.m., with the top two finishers advancing on to the grand finals.
The men's varsity heavyweight four finished second in its heat, crossing the line in a time of 6:38.9. The second place finish in their heat was good enough to advance them on to semifinal No. 1 at 9:41 a.m. Saturday morning. The top two times from the three semifinal races will advance on to the grand finals.
The men's lightweight four was the third boat that the Broncos entered in the regatta. There was no time given for Santa Clara in the race.
