Santa Clara Women's Crew Program Names Novice Coach

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara University head women's crew coach Kevin Scully announced the completion of his staff with the hiring of former Dartmouth College rower Anna Kate Deutschendorf as novice coach for the Broncos.

"Anna Kate is a wonderful addition to our staff," said Scully. "She has a great feel for what it takes to be successful in our sport, having both participated and coached at a high level. I'm excited to have her on board and expect great things as we continue to build our rowing program at Santa Clara University."

Deutschendorf comes to Santa Clara after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach and novice coach at the University of Virginia. While in Charlottesville, she designed and executed a training and race preparation program for the Cavaliers' 30-person squad. She also organized all novice and varsity team travel, assisted in recruiting and was involved with all facets of the operation of the women's crew program. While at UVA, she earned her Level I coach's certification by the United States Rowing Association.

Prior to her position at Virginia, Deutschendorf was a four-year varsity rower at Dartmouth College. A two-year co-captain, she participated in the USRowing East Coast Development Camp and competed at 3 NCAA Rowing Championships.

"I am really excited to be a part of the Santa Clara University community and, in particular, its rowing program," said Deutschendorf. "This is an exciting time to be at Santa Clara and I look forward to helping our rowing program match the high level of success our sports teams enjoy."
