SAN BRUNO, Calif. - One of the most clutch performers in Santa Clara women's basketball history earned another honor to add to her list of accomplishments as senior point guard Kayla Huss was named the WCC Player of the Month for her performance in February, the conference announced today.

In the regular season's final month, the Everett, Wash. native averaged 13.0 points a game to go along with 3.43 assists and 3.0 rebounds a game over seven contests. Huss also shot 50.0% (18-for-36) from behind the arc for the month and her hot shooting helped the Broncos to a 6-1 mark for the month which was instrumental in clinching the school's first conference regular-season title since 1998-99.

"Kayla has been tremendous for us, and not only do her stats show that but she has just been extremely solid for us," said head coach Michelle Bento-Jackson. "She's one of the best point guards in the conference and especially as of late she has been a great scorer and leader for us on the court."

For the season, Huss has averaged 9.4 points a game and paces the team with 3.4 assists a game. Huss' 1.62 assist-to-turnover ratio is tops in the WCC while her 45.0% accuracy (45-for-100) from three-point land and 3.4 assists per game are second in the conference. Last week the senior guard was also named first-team All-WCC for the second time in her illustrious career.

Huss' Player of the Month recognition is the second such honor earned by Santa Clara this season, as Michelle Cozad was named Player of the Month for her performance in December.
