Santa Clara 83, Portland 77

March 2, 2006

Recap |  Final Stats

Santa Clara Head Coach Michelle Bento-Jackson
"Rachel Warren gave us some big problems, no pun intended she's a big girl.

"We weathered the storm, I thought we kept our composure and really managed the clock during the last five to six minutes of the game.

"We knew that the seating meant nothing. It really didn't.

"In our conference, I wouldn't want to be a betting man in this conference tournament because I really couldn't tell you who was going to win any of the ball games.

(About Portland) "Their record is not indicative about what kind of ball team they are at all.

"Our outside shooting is one of our strengths of this team, we're not going to go away from that, but at the same time we do need to have balance between inside and outside, we can't solely rely on that."

Santa Clara Guard Kayla Huss
"Usually I can depend on Michelle to do about everything. She usually steps up the last five minutes of the game but she usually steps up for every game."

Santa Clara Guard Michelle Cozad
(About getting her 1,000th point) "Winning is way more important than that. I just think our team did an awesome job just coming out and being fired up."
