Maddison Allen Selected to Australian Squad for World University Games
Santa Clara junior women’s basketball player Maddison Allen has been selected as part of the squad for Australia in the upcoming World University Games. If Allen is selected for the team she will travel to play in South Korea from June 3-14. The Australian women won gold in 2007 and bronze in 2005, 2009, 2011, and 2013.

Come Out for Santa Clara Women's Basketball Summer Camps
Santa Clara women’s basketball will hold their annual summer camps on the Mission campus in June. There will be three camps: Day Camp June 22-24, Elite Camp on June 25, and Team Camp June 26-28.

Women's Basketball Finishes First Year Under New Coaching Staff
Santa Clara women’s basketball ushered in a new era during the 2014-15 season with the arrival of new head coach JR Payne and her staff. Payne, a former assistant at Santa Clara, saw the Broncos win 11 games, including an upset over LSU on Nov. 25 in the Hardwood Tournament of Hope in Puerto Vallarta, Mex. Seven of the Broncos loses during the season were by six points or fewer. Santa Clara ended up playing four teams that made the NCAA Tournament and two teams that made the Sweet 16.

Gilday Named One of Top-10 Most Efficient Shooters in DI Women's Basketball
Santa Clara women’s basketball First Team All-WCC senior guard Nici Gilday has been named one of the top-10 most efficient shooters in DI women’s basketball by Bennett Rank. Gilday ranks No. 6on the list with a 36.1% mark from downtown and a 94.5% mark from the charity stripe that leads the country by two percentage points.

Santa Clara women’s basketball senior guard Nici Gilday was named First Team All-WCC on Tuesday by the league’s head coaches. She was MVP of the Air Force Classic and also named to the All-Tournament Team. She was named WCC Player of the Week on Dec. 8. Last season Gilday was All-WCC Honorable Mention.

With the regular season in the rearview mirror, Santa Clara women’s basketball heads to Las Vegas for the West Coast Conference Tournament. The seventh-seeded Broncos will face the 10th-seeded Portland Pilots on Thurs., March 5 at 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on BYUtv and TheW.tv. Spencer Linton and Kristen Kozlowski will have the call from the Orleans Arena. The winner will take on No. 2 seed San Diego Friday at 2 p.m. Last week Santa Clara lost at Pacific and Saint Mary’s. They finished the regular season 10-17 overall and 5-13 in conference action.

Heading into the final week of regular season play, Santa Clara women’s basketball hits the road for games at Pacific and Saint Mary’s. The Broncos play the Tigers Thurs., Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. and the Gaels Sat., Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. Last week the Broncos topped Pepperdine but fell on Senior Day to LMU. Santa Clara is 10-15 on the season and 5-11 in conference play. They sit one game out of sixth place, which would give them a bye in the first round of the WCC Tournament.

Coming off an upset of LSU, Santa Clara women’s basketball returns home for one game before heading back on the road. The Broncos host Cal Poly on Tues., Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. before traveling to Colorado Springs, Colo. for the Air Force Classic. There the Broncos will play UC Davis Fri., Dec. 5 at 3:30 p.m. and host Air Force Sat., Dec. 6 at 3:30 p.m. Last week Santa Clara beat LSU 69-67 in its lone game at the Hardwood Tournament of Hope in Puerto Vallarta, Mex. The Broncos win vs. LSU was the program’s first vs. an SEC school since a 58-53 win on Dec. 14, 1996 vs. Mississippi at the Wahine Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Broncos are 3-1 on the year.

In a game in which it never trailed, Santa Clara women’s basketball upset LSU by a final of 69-67. The win puts the Broncos at 3-1 while the Tigers are now 2-4. This was the first win for Santa Clara against an SEC team since a 58-53 win on Dec. 14, 1996 vs. Mississippi at the Wahine Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Hardwood Tournament of Hope in Puerto Vallarta on Tap for Women's Basketball
Coming off a road win down the coast, Santa Clara women’s basketball travels to Puerto Vallarta, Mex. to take part in the Hardwood Tournament of Hope against some tough competition. The Broncos will face LSU Tues., Nov. 25 at 12:30 p.m., Kansas State Wed., Nov. 26 at 3 p.m., and UTEP at 12:30 p.m. on Thurs., Nov. 27 at 12:30 p.m. Last week Santa Clara took down UC Santa Barbara on the road to move to 2-1 on the young season.

Getting set for the start of a new season, Santa Clara women’s basketball opens the 2014-15 season at UC Riverside on Fri., Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. before coming home to face San Francisco State at 6 p.m. on Sun., Nov. 16. The Broncos won two exhibition games in the preseason. They topped Notre Dame de Namur 77-40 and Dominican 81-55.

Santa Clara women’s basketball will open its West Coast Conference schedule at the Leavey Center on Dec. 27 vs. Saint Mary’s. The last meeting between the two teams was in Moraga when the Broncos came away with an 89-83 upset.
