SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Coming off a 14-win season, Santa Clara women's basketball announced its 2013-14 schedule on Monday. The Broncos will play two exhibition games at home before opening the regular season on Nov. 8 on the road. Nov. 12 will be the opener at the Leavey Center and conference action begins Dec. 30.
"I put our non-conference schedule together to prepare us for West Coast Conference play," said Santa Clara head coach Jennifer Mountain. "The different styles that we're going to play against will prepare us and help get our young players ready. It will be great to play a lot of games at the Leavey Center where he get an extra spark with our fans. We'll be preparing for a league that is, top to bottom, better than last year. Our schedule is challenging but hopefully it will put us in a position for postseason play."
The Broncos open the season in Las Vegas, Nev. at UNLV on Nov. 8. Santa Clara then comes home for its home opener on Nov. 12 vs. San Jose State in a doubleheader with men's basketball.
After a pair of games at home, Santa Clara hits the road for four games, including two at the Northridge Tournament hosted by CSU Northridge on Nov. 29-30. Dc. 18 vs. UC Davis and Dec. 20 Georgia State will finish non-conference action for Santa Clara.
West Coast Conference play begins on Dec. 30 vs. San Francisco. The Broncos will open the road portion of their WCC schedule at Pepperdine on Jan. 2 and will visit LMU on Jan. 4. Santa Clara then has back-to-back weekends at home before hitting the road for back-to-back weekends.
The road slate wraps-up Feb. 22 at Saint Mary's. Senior day will be Mar. 1 vs. Pepperdine.
The WCC Tournament will be March 6-11, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nev. at the Orleans Arena.
