Pacific Outlasts Broncos 12-9

STOCKTON, Calif. - Santa Clara suffered another loss Saturday at the hands of the Pacific Tigers in Stockton, Calif. With the loss, the team's record is now 13-13 on the season, and 11-3 in the Western Water Polo Association.

The Broncos started very well against a Pacific team that is ranked No. 8. After falling into a 4-1 hole in the first period, Santa Clara outshot the Tigers 6-3 in the second period to go into halftime tied at 7-7. Strong defense on both sides accounted for only one goal for each team in the third period. In the fourth period, the Tigers managed four more goals, holding Santa Clara to just one to account for the final score of 12-9.

The Broncos received great performances from Tommy Hendrickson and Billy Gorin. Hendrickson had a hat-trick, and Gorin had three steals to go along with his two goals. Junior Luke Oda had another strong outing as well, drawing three kickouts and a 5M penalty shot. Freshman Liam Farrell had two goals, and junior Mike Detoy and sophomore Jack Wall added a goal apiece. Rob Callahan put up eight blocks in the cage, and had two steals.

The Broncos conclude their regular season when they visit Stanford on Sunday, November 12th at 12:00 p.m.
