Men's Water Polo Falls to #13 BYU-Hawaii in Davis

Oct. 29, 2004

DAVIS, Calif. - In its first match of the Aggie Shoutout in Davis, Calif., the Santa Clara men's water polo team dropped a hard fought contest to 13th-ranked BYU-Hawaii, 10-7. With the loss, Santa Clara moves to 8-15 on the season.

"I am happy with today's effort, but not the result," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "Today was our best effort in 6-on-5 opoortunites, as we converted five out of the six we had. There are things to build off today to have a good morning match against Air Force tomorrow."

The Broncos and Seasiders remained close throughout the first half as the teams were knotted at 5-5 heading into halftime. However, BYU-Hawaii would outscore Santa Clara 5-2 in the final two frames to earn the victory.

Senior Kenny Flanagan-De La Hoz, junior Jon Greco and freshman Charlie Moore each posted two scores on the day, while fellow freshman Thomas Kelly added another.

Senior goalkeeper Peter Moore recorded his tenth double-digit save performance of the season with 10 blocks against the Seasiders.

The Broncos will return to action tomorrow for the second day of the Aggie Shootout. At 9 a.m., SCU will face Air Force before taking on the host Aggies in a 4 p.m. meeting.
