SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Coming off a season ranked in the top-20 all year, Santa Clara men's water polo released its schedule on Monday. The Broncos will play in the annual NorCal and SoCal Tournaments as well as hosting The Bronco in October.
"Our schedule provides us with lots of high-level competition throughout the season," said Santa Clara head coach Keith Wilbur. "Even though it can be tough playing a lot of ranked opponents, it provides us with the opportunity to challenge ourselves and get better playing against the best teams out there every weekend. Going to Princeton for their tournament early in the season is always a fun trip. Also, having a water polo game televised is pretty rare, so having two of our games (Princeton and Cal) televised this year will a great experience for the guys. We also always look forward to our home tournament, The Rodeo, in late October which has grown into an annual event with a great mix of schools from back East and California."
The season kicks-off Sept. 7 at Pacific with a 1 p.m. game. From there the Broncos head to Princeton to play the Tigers on Sept. 13 at 3:30 p.m. Pacific. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU.
Next up Santa Clara stays at Princeton for the Princeton Tournament before heading to Berkeley for NorCals.
On Oct. 5 the Broncos will face perennial power Stanford at 12 p.m. in Palo Alto.
After heading to Irvine, Calif. for SoCals, the Broncos open their home schedule with the Alumni Game on Oct. 19 before hosting UCLA and West Valley on Oct. 20.
The Rodeo takes place from Oct. 25-27 before Santa Clara heads south for three Western Water Polo Association games in Southern California.
The Broncos return home to face Air Force and wrap-up the home schedule with Senior Day vs. Cal on Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on Pac-12 Network.
The WWPA Championships will be held in Davis, Calif. from Nov. 22-24.
