Hobbs, Case Receive ACWPC All-American Honorable Mentions
Senior Stephen Hobbs and junior James Case were selected as Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-American honorable mentions this past Saturday when the ACWPC released their annual awards. It is the first time Santa Clara has had two men's water polo athletes selected for an All-American honorable mention in the same year.

Outside of the pool, Theo Nasser (San Mateo, Calif.) may be one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. However, in the pool it’s a different story. Nasser has developed into one of the Bronco’s top two meter defenders, a position that is physically grueling.

Santa Clara Takes Third At WWPA Championships
The No. 14 Santa Clara men’s water polo team closed its 2010 season with a 19-15 overall record and a third place finish at the WWPA Championships, defeating No. 11 UC San Diego today, 7-6, at Sullivan Aquatic Center. Sophomore Patrick Weiss led the Bronco offense with two goals in SCU’s first-ever victory over the Tritons while junior goalie Michael Wishart made eight saves.

The No. 14 Santa Clara men's water polo team fell to No. 8 Loyola Marymount, 11-4, this afternoon in the 2010 WWPA Championships semifinal at Sullivan Aquatic Center. The Broncos, now 18-15 overall, will close out the 2010 season tomorrow against No. 11 UC San Diego at noon in the WWPA Third Place match.

The No. 14 Santa Clara men’s water polo team defeated fifth-seeded Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 13-4, in the Broncos’ first game of the 2010 WWPA Championships. SCU, seeded fourth, will now move on to play the winner of top-seeded Loyola Marymount vs. eighth-seeded Redlands in tomorrow’s semifinal.

Broncos Set To Host WWPA Championships
The No. 14 Santa Clara men’s water polo (17-14 overall, 7-7 WWPA) will host the WWPA Championships this Friday, Nov. 19 to Sunday, Nov. 21 at the Sullivan Aquatic Center. Ten conference foes will converge on the Mission Campus, all looking for an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. This will mark the first time the Santa Clara men’s team has hosted the WWPA championships. The Santa Clara women hosted the tournament in 2008.

Junior goalie Michael Wishart was named the WWPA Player of the Week today, Wednesday, Oct. 27, after a strong performance last weekend at the Broncos' own Rodeo Tournament. Wishart posted big numbers as Santa Clara went on to win all four games in the tournament.

Last year Nick Poggetti (NP) was the leading goal scorer on the Santa Clara University mens water polo team, breaking the single season record for goals scored with 78.
